Rope Bottoming Advice - Index
This is the index of a series of articles on advice for rope bottoms, written by Mya and Fox. We’ve been doing rope intensively for 10 years. Mya has bottomed with a wide variety of rope tops, and Fox has worked as a top with many rope bottoms.
We believe very strongly in the importance of rope bottoming education. Rope bondage is a very risky activity, and all participants should be as informed as possible in order to consent. But further than that, we are also convinced that better educated bottoms get more enjoyment and satisfaction out of the scenes they take part in.
When rope bondage began its rise in popularity worldwide, the bulk of education was directed at rope tops, both for cultural and economic reasons. We’ve been delighted to see in recent years that this trend is changing, with more and more resources and workshops either including rope bottoming content or being solely focused on that perspective. That being said, at the moment rope bottoming advice remains fragmented in various places, which makes it particularly difficult for newer rope bottoms to get to the information they need, when they need it.
Our goal with this project is to curate over time a in centralized location the learnings and best practices from our own rope journeys and the research we do for the Rope Podcast - things that have worked for us in our own rope practice and for the people we have played and worked with.
But beware: There is no one single right way to do rope. Maybe the things that worked for us don’t work for you. Maybe you disagree with some of our opinions and advice - and that’s completely OK. Creating discussion and debate is another way to engage you to consider what is useful for you as a rope bottom. Our goal is to bring topics to life, and encourage you to make active, conscious decisions about how you approach rope bottoming.
This is a work in progress, and a living document. Below is an index of the articles in this series, which we will update and add to as we write.
